seidoo_ryuuFrom my observations this morning, this is how you flirt, if you are a house sparrow:
Step 1: Espy a comely young female sparrow, one that you realize would be Quite Suitable for such activities as nest-building and chick-rearing. Realize that she is most definitely the one to engage in such activities with you, even though she doesn't know that yet.
Step 2: Make sure she is paying attention. This is very important.
Step 3: Assume a proper, bold stance. Feet spaced to the width of your shoulders will do just fine.
Step 4: Fluff up your feathers, so you are roughly the size and shape of a Koosh Ball.
Step 5: Check to make sure she is paying attention again.
Step 6: Hop up and down in place, then start hopping over in her direction.
Step 7: Stop and look dismayed when she flits up to the feeder and starts eating. Stand in one spot for several long moments, trying to rationalize why your display seems to have failed.
Step 8: Hop over to the other side of the feeder, and stare meaningfully at her with head tilted, to see if you can catch her attention. Do this for several moments.
